This is a terrible argument. You do realize how much subsidization of children there is in society right? Some of it isn't even financial... Oh right sorry Jane/Jim we can't have you work late/travel for work because little Junior has little league this week. Well just have to send Wanda since she doesn't have any kids. If you think s**t like this doesn't happen you haven't worked in corporate America. Also public schools anyone? Folks who choose not to have kids are paying for these tykes. I'm not saying they shouldn't but trust me little ones take from society too and it isn't just financial it's also peer pressure induced like the office e example. Listen I don't care if I want to go to a 4 PM yoga session after work and you want to go to your kids recital, companies should treat is equally. Free time is free time. Plus don't even get me started on people who bring their little monsters on airplanes and can't keep them from kicking my seat.
This must be one of the few issues that really get people to take sides. Should I put some more oil on the flames? OK: childless people are freeloaders. Their pensions will be paid by other people's children. And yes, that's true even if you save and invest for retirement yourself, because those dividends will have to be paid out of GDP, too.
