Oh sorry I didn't see the question mark. No, as I said.....I don't know whether or not my paper will be featured in the conference. I just got a pre-registration email today.
APSA acceptances

Bros, if you want to go to APSA organize a panel. If you just submitted an abstract you are not getting in.
Related topic: what sort of mechanism can we devise to keep lol scholars from laughable LACs and >top 50 bros out of the conference. Seriously too many people applying these days. Seriously it's way too much work for CHYMPS ABDs to be organizing panels and calling in favors to the section chairs they know just to present at APSA.

Thanks udhr1948!
MPSA seemed like a piece of cake. I submitted something I wrote a few years ago and they were all over it. I was quite surprised how easy it was. Or maybe I underestimate myself. The only problem is financing the trip.
Organizing a panel sounds like a lot work. Sylvie how do you go about doing that? Think up a topic (for a section) and then find friends to submit papers to you? Why is that easier?

Panels are easier for everyone (except maybe the person organizing it). Find four people who do similar research topics. Aim for a well known and hopefully good discussant (maybe your advisor). Write up a proposal that fits the theme. Submit.
Your advisor could also do this and you tag along as a presenter.
ISA is good for a first try at this.

It's almost impossible not to be accepted to MPSA. They accept every grad student that applies, and then gouge them all with outrageous registration fees, penalize them for not staying in overpriced hotels, etc. It's a giant scam, but it keep them organizers very very wealthy.

Branda no arguments there. I'd like to know the acceptance rate for MPSA. I'd also like to hear of somebody who will admit that they didn't get into MPSA. It's really expensive, though.
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to have been accepted. But I haven't gotten the sense yet that it's a very competitive conference. APSA seems like the benchmark on whether your work is actually good ....or maybe you're just dreaming and should in fact move on to something else.

The acceptance rates at APSA vary from division to division. The highest are around 20-25%, the lowest nearer to 10%. APSA allocates more or fewer panels to divisions depending partly on rejection rates. The higher the rejection rate, the more panels for next year, all else being held equal.
