is probably just not doing PT, I know. But any opinions on which schools place the best in PT? Looking for advice
Best schools for PT placement

it seems to me that there are so few jobs that it is impossible to distinguish something idiosyncratic from a real relationship. the idea that we can say that some random program, like wisconsin, punches above its weight strikes me as very ill-founded, though i admittedly know nothing about that program. how many theory students have they placed in the last decade? enough to say that they are doing meaningfully better than the range that would be expected for a good, but not top, program?

definitely Chicago... and the idea that that's ignoring the denominator is misplaced. Chicago usually takes in about 2-3 theory students each year, which isn't significantly different from the other top programs. If you look at recent theory placements you see them at Cambridge, UCLA, UBC, Columbia, Michigan, etc.

If I were applying for grad schools now, and actually wanted academic employment after the degree, I'd only consider the following in the US: Chicago, Cornell, and...
Well, that might be it. I mean, there's an outside shot that you could get a job out of another program. But those two schools are your strongest shot at the moment. Brown is an interesting place. Lots of high-powered hires and big recent investment in theory -- but too early to say if any of that matters for job market success.

Fewer friend. Fewer. Whether it has lesser students is another matter.
In order for Chicago's placement to look good, you have to studiously ignore the denominator (same for Princeton). Yale is actually better, even with maybe less overall placement, bc they have less theory students than Harvard/Princeton/Chicago
