Why on earth would you think that your CV is better? Everyone at BU has been publishing despite a 3-3 load, summer teaching, and 2 hours commute every day. Your post suggests that you are too immature to even understand the basic demands of this job. Nobody gets hired based on postdoc privilege with no teaching or service.
All of these jobs depend on connections to some extent. So a lot of times the best qualified person on paper does not get hired. If your advisor happened to go to grad school with people at BU that will help your chance. That is just the way these things work unfortunately.

If it doesn't work out for you this year, maybe you should look for employment in a field where you have a comparative advantage.

I don't know where he has a comparative advantage b/c I don't know who the OP is. But I'm assuming that there are areas in life where he can be more successful than going 0-for-3 on the job market. So yes, s/he should focus on where s/he has a comparative advantage.

Even with a 2-2 load, this post is still valid. It takes a lot of time to self govern a department, operate student clubs, run searches, etc. once you get past the top 20 programs service expectations start to increase
Not even close to true at my 2-2 department ranked waaaaay lower than BU (blah blah N of 1). I do very little service and have lots of time to do research. I'm still an assistant, so I have little doubt this will change once I get tenure, but still.
