APSA should be cancelled and go virtual with over 100k cases and breakthroughs more common than ever.
It will be over 200k cases when apsa starts
Seattle is highly vaccinated. Profs and grad students are probably the most highly vaccinated demographic in the country. But sure tank everything b/c of the .0000000000000000000000000000000001% chance that someone's kid is going to get sick because they went to this conference while wearing a hazmat suit.
C’mon, APSA. Time to go virtual. Otherwise this whole thing is going to be one big debacle and stain on our discipline.
Unlike Herman, I've been vaccinated and I have no problem with masks. Also, I think his tax policy was bad. I don't have a mistress. I don't even like Godfather's Pizza. Other than that though, I'm a dead ringer for him.
Who is the Herman Cain of Political Science? Is it Gerald?

175k cases yesterday And 1100 dead with a month to go. It will be 300k and 2000 dead each day by the time apsa rolls around. We shut everything down last winter ar those numbers.
Again, at that time, there were no vaccines. The overwhelming majority of people dying now are not just very old -as has always been true- but people who have CHOSEN not to be vaccinated. Yes, there are some people with little education, surrounded by a morass of anti-vac propaganda whom you might say are victims who shouldn't be blamed for their choice, but that's not the kind of person who goes to APSA.

Can you show me data on who is not vaccinated by level of education?
"Disparities by education level remained, with adults holding a bachelor’s degree or higher continuing to have the highest vaccination rate at 90.8%, and adults without a high school diploma having the lowest vaccination rate at 68.6%."

"Actually" you didn't post a link and that's nonsense, but go off.
Actually the data shows that those who hold PhDs are among the likeliest to be vaccination hesitant.
Perhaps instead of embarrassing yourself you could just ask for a link?

Actual vaccination increases with level of education, even comparing college grads with those with still higher levels of educational attainment:

Gerald, instead of doubling down like a child why don't you actually address the study I provided, which has an extensive N and actually distinguishes between PhD holders and other education levels, which yours doesn't.
You would also notice that the study I provided showed master's holders as the least vaccine hesitant, which your study conflates with PhD holders into one category.
It's not about vaccination rates. That is the most relevant statistic. If you really think APSA (or other academic conferences) are going to be filled with anti-vaxxers, it's probably not a useful discussion with you.

You made an assumption and it was wrong. I called you out on it. Now you are acting like a child.
Why do you think APSA allows a negative covid test in lieu of proof of vaccination? Just for fun?
Chances of APSA going virtual: zero.
They make money off an in-person convention, the same way your local small liberal arts college makes money off room and board and needs students to be edutained, attending frat parties, and cheering on their division II football team.
