Twin Cities - maybe poli sci or public policy.
If you want to sound sophisticated, never say "Twin Cities" or even worse "The Cities." Saying that makes you sound like a bumpkin who lives within 300 miles of Minneapolis. No one outside that 300 mile radius knows what you mean when you say Twin Cities. Seattle and Tacoma? Cambridge and Somerville? La Junta and Swink?

I like sun, but don’t want to be poor in California or swatting mosquitoes in Florida. This list x1000. Except I’d put Boulder on top.

My institution. R1, in a location I love, department colleagues are chill, students are low-maintenance, research resources are enough for my needs. Like all academic jobs the salary is low compared to private sector, but the job is low stress and satisfying. Life is good.

What part of the U.S., roughly?

Glad to see this post. Very encouraging. I feel the same way (North American at an Oxbridge college).

The question was about places you liked to work at. Not aware there is a job in Seattle or Swink with Twin Cities in the name.
Those other places listed in the thread are good, too - I would also like a U near mountains.

Boulder is amazing. University of Denver is great too. I'd love a job at either.

All of these are trash schools. Some are in nice places to live but working conditions matter, and if your employer doesn’t care about research quality they’ll be bad.
