No longer allow co-authored dissertations, and people going up for tenure with co-authored books and (almost) exclusively co-authored articles.
If you can't write a publishable article and book on your own, you have no business getting a PhD and a tenure-track job.
Enforce sole authorship standards

How hard can it be for one person to write a paper including a lit review, building a model, analyzing a dataset, and reporting results? It's not rocket science. If you can't pass that low bar, get a plumber job.
building a model? LOL!!!!!!! you think you build a model? LOL!!!!!!!!!

co-authored dissertations?
Believe it or not, it's a thing, and not only at low-ranked places. Harvard and Princeton are allowing that.Even if this is true, who would hire someone with such a PhD? Not us.
Not us either (top-10 R1) but unfortunately this is still allowed at some places. Given the high job market penalty for coauthored dissertations, most students are smart enough not to do this. Only the weakest PhD students who couldn't get their degree otherwise submit coauthored dissertations.

Lots of dinosaurs on here today. These schools allow students to coauthor chapters of a dissertation, like in the three-paper type of dissertation.
Dissertation format is besides the point. If you can't write a few chapters or a few papers on your own, that sends a strong negative signal -- that you won't be able to produce a tenurable record on your own. And we're not hiring any free-riders, certainly not in this buyer's market, when we receive hundreds of applications from people who are able to at least meet the basic standard of a single-authored dissertation.

Not everything new is good. The decline of Rome was new at one point. These people have no ideas. They are going to spend the rest of their lives being junior co-authors in 9 out of 10 cases. And anyway these papers will be busywork rediscovering PID and getting in big journals because the methods are sound. (Sure people THOUGHT PID was a thing but now WE REALLY KNOW!"
No thanks.

A typical case is a dissertation composed of three-four papers, one of which is coauthored, usually with the advisor. What’s wrong with that? If a scholar is going to be productive they better learn to coauthor early on.

Those who can only be "productive" by coauthoring are precisely the freeriders that should be weeded out.
