This has gone too far. Enough is enough. There are clearly credible grounds to investigate, and the reputational hit from doing so will be much less than the already great reputational hit from not do so. Please take action.

This email could’ve only been copy-pasted from someone on AJPS editorial board. I sent it to them this morning.
Congrats AJPS you now have an insider on your board posting your emails on PSR

Totally out of the loop on this Karl chap etc. seems to have pissed lots of people off.

But if the editorial board of AJPS are leaking private correspondence then I am very unhappy about it. Especially, as it regards misconduct. If there is a leaker, please do not do this again. It risks degrading the journal and the field.

No, dude. Like many academics, I am careful and take my time to ensure I write well and use data in ways that are well-justified and consistent with current best practices. It's part of having a reasoned discussion about issues that are rarely as black or white as partisans (on both sides) would have people believe. So I am impatient with people who whip off writing or analysis with hallmarks of haste and carelessness (like typos), particularly when they do so with an apparent axe to grind. It leads me to believe they are grinding too much and thinking too little.

Enos is as dense as the rational numbers in the reals. But

1) His dataset has 1866 rows; the actual number of precincts is 2,709. So hundreds of observations were lost. And for some precincts some numbers differ from official ones. He should be able to understand these basic facts. Why isn't he doing anything to fix the errors?
2) The deletions are non-random in (at least) two ways: (i) they follow circular patterns around projects; (ii) they have a different distribution of variables of interest (turnout, pct vote R) than the non-removed precincts, with higher values on these variables, and as such they are particularly unfavorable to his hypotheses.
