SUNY-Geneseo mentions collegiality a few times in their recent ad:
"We are a highly collegial department of six full-time faculty members..."
"We also highly value collegiality..."
How many job ads mention this? And if they feel the need to mention it, then how do these faculty members really act?
It's a selling point if you don't like drama and want to come to a friendly LAC and live an actual human life. Might not put it in ad but I am assuming they do NOT fight...they are a refreshing alternative to some of the snake pits that pass as political science departments.

My LAC hired a guy who is genial 95% of the time. The other 5% he carries on one-sided feuds and bullies people. Being at a LAC doesn’t make you any more collegial.

The point is, if you are a collegial department you don't need to mention that. How many other job listings mention collegiality?

Yeah. I'd say the base assumption is that most departments are snakepits. If yours isn't, you need to signal it.
