The chart shows that more sheriffs disagree or strongly disagree than agree or strongly agree with the statement "The traditional american way of life is disappearing so fast we have to use force to save it"

I mean, her standards for "right-wing extremist" probably cover about 60% of the public so it is not too surprising that sheriffs qualify. I wonder if these two fine scholars have given a moment's thought to the properties of that survey item.

What part of agreeing with that statement indicates right wing extremist?

What if I consider crime to be disappearance of the American way of life and therefore force is justified with criminals?

What does "traditional american way of life mean"? What basis is there to assume respondents have similar views on the matter?
What does "use force to save it" mean? What basis is there to assume respondents have similar views on it?
And what does it all have to do with "right-wing extremism"? How is that question a conceptually meaningful operationalization of it?
