JM (Chicago). His work is either wrong or obvious.
Btw, how has he not gotten cancelled yet? Everyone knows he is an unethical womanizer.
Most overrated political theorists

Good question...

Yack, Tarcov, Tomasi
Yack. Solid early work, got boring.
Tarcov. Reputation is for mentoring not scholarship. Reputation deserved.
Tomasi. At least he was slightly original. That hardly makes Yack overrated. His books on Aristotle and Marx are classics.
Tarcov and Tomasi--not highly rated to begin with, but certainly there's no there there.

Tomasi. At least he was slightly original.Trying again. Yack wrote two classics, on Aristotle and Marx/Nietzsche. But Tarcov and Tomasi warrant no rating at all.

Is he a womanizer or an unethical womanizer or are those automatically the same? Asking for a friend.
An unmarried man who pursues a lot of adult women outside the workplace can be an ethical womanizer.
You could not be more out of touch with the current moment.
If a man makes a woman feel shame or regret, it’s abuse. Period. She will declare it, other women will support her, end of story. And end of man’s career.
Meanwhile There is literally nothing an academic woman could do to a man that would cause trouble for her.

Bevir is underrated in N America. He's way more known in Great Britain and Scandinavia. He is abrasive and not at all smooth at the academic game of social networking. If anyone is reading him its definitely not because he made it into one of those cliques like the Cambridge School or Critical Theory where everyone cheers nonstop for their own people
Yes, Bevir is abrasive and uninterested in networking. He's from a poor family and his parents were on welfare. He thinks elite academic culture is stuck up and pretentious, and he once told me he dislikes most academics. I doubt he cares if they don't like him.

I doubt he cares if they don't like him.He is a product of that culture, pretentious himself. I once tried talking to him and he was uninterested in me because I wasn't "smart enough for him." He is very unfriendly and his research is not that interesting.
