What a weird thing to say. Do you think the fuss over the book is that people believe white identity politics is "mostly benign?" Do you think this is how she and others who work on such topics would describe the Trump vote, opposing aa, and being against immigration? Or liking social services but only for whites? I think you should take another look at the book.

This is all true. But what people are reacting to is this happening at Duke, not at CHYMPS. Unless I’m missing something, this kind of tenure denial is very rare at a place like Duke. You can say “Duke is the big leagues” all you want, but that doesn’t mean they regularly deny people tenure like

You know, at self-respecting departments quite a few people judge for themselves and do not rely heavily on the shortcuts people have mentioned here. They recognize that fads and external forces can drive citations
