The shift to "quant" "science" has led to huge new discoveries over the last 30 years, so I welcome this intensification of that focus. I think we will very soon have scientific proof of whether members of a political party in America are likely to vote for that party in an election.

You think that the categories of political science scholarship are theory and quant? You might want to reschedule your comps for another year so you have more time to study concepts. The opposite of quant is qualititative, not theory. Theory is a nominal category that includes comparative, IR, American etc.

In September, we were told the team would be Dr. Vera Troeger as Editor in Chief, Dr. Cameron Thies as Deputy Lead Editor and Dr. Miriam Golden, Dr. Miki Caul Kittilson, Dr. Maya Sen, Dr. Christina Schneider and Dr. Laura Valentini as Field Editors. But now we have a bunch of no names.

You do know that up until very recently journals were edited by a single person serving all subfields and methods.
Sure. Under that arrangement, theory was virtually never published, and when it was it was weird and usually bad. Under the field editor system and EE/JTL, JOP has become an outstanding theory outlet. I can't blame theorists for being worried about a retreat to the bad old days.
