Same place where one faculty member complained they couldn’t find anyone qualified to teach. Playing $46k for a VAP.
North Florida hiring, hotshots!

Low cost of living, no state income tax. But sure, keep posting on PSR instead of finishing your dissertation and you’ll land a TT job this summer for sure.

Which is why Jacksonville had among the highest influx of new residents (mainly from the NE) in the US during the pandemic.

Just wait until they experience their first Cat 3 hurricane, they'll want to be back in Beantown, but will be chest deep in flood water, crying, losing hoap

Jacksonville is a decent place to live (of course everyone has different preferences). This is a 1-year VAP and a 4-4 so it is what it is - a possibility for someone to stay afloat for 9 more months. Pay is low-average for a a VAP in the region.
I would recommend whoever gets the job to mail it in and focus on writing/finding a permanent job. If they were concerned about students education, they wouldn't be hiring low paid temporary VAPs constantly.

This doesn’t make any sense. There are institutional and statewide budgeting constraints. The suggestion that a university should just “pay someone more” is nearly as absurd as the idea that people can just “pick up and move” if they don’t like how the area is changing.
