That ignorance, in and of itself, is reason to explicitly ban theory from good journals.
It's also interesting to see that theory makes up around 20% of JOP submissions. A hugely disproportionate share of submissions given their status within the discipline.
OP grasping at straws. There are four general association journals that strive to cover the scope of the discipline, PRQ is one of the four. Not everything is about rankings.
"Leading" journal? Isn't that everything to do with rankings.
For the theory dullards, you're even worse than the Americanists when it comes to navel gazing. PRQ is a minor journal that hits around the same level as Electoral Studies. I'm all for ridding ourselves of the "Top 3" talk, since it's clear that cronyism is the best explanation for who gets published in APSR, and likely soon AJPS as well. But saying that PRQ is a leading journal is provincial nonsense.
PRQ is at the top of the second tier of journals. The first tier is comprised of the APSR, AJPS, JOP, and BJPS, along with highly ranked subfield journals like World Politics, IO, CPS, and ISQ. It is a good general journal, but it is definitely not in the same league as the APSR, AJPS, or JOP.
