God, why don't you guys hash this out in person, face-to-face, rather than airing your baggage on PSR?
Choi and BV have been fighting this bitter battle for years on PSR, reopening old wounds over and over. Many have tried to ignore them and their BS, but at a certain point enough is enough. I agree with you, btw. It's not a discussion for PSR.
Hello, children, the thread is not about individuals, but about dept dysfunction.
For example, a majority of faculty didn't know the opening of the AP position till November 1, which was only about two weeks before the first campus visit in mid-November.
This also explains why a majority of faculty didn't see the job announcement before someone posted it here the other day.
By the way, Roosevelt made assertion: "BV told grad students during his interview that you should make sure to have sex with undergrads as a grad student bc it's harder to get away with it as faculty."
So, despite this alleged misbehavior "during his interview", UIC decided to hire BV. Seriously? You really don't want to make up things like this.
Roosevelt made assertion: "Choi gave out negative grades (literally less than "zero") for papers, which is why he was stripped of the stats course."
I really have no idea of what you're talking about here. Choi is an IR specialist, not a statistician. Aren't stat courses taught by methodologists in our discipline? It has become a major field just like IR, AP, CP, etc. But as far as I know, Choi was not trained as a methodologist, though he uses stats in his research, just like many other political scientists. So I have no idea of why you made that allegation. At any rate, if you said Choi was stripped of IR courses, it's really something so that I could see your point. But you didn't, so I just don't get it.
