1. 38 applications indicates people at well aware this is one of the most toxic departments. Outpacing Miami circa 2005.

2005 was rough. 2013 was rougher. Nothing tops 2010. That's the year they denied tenure to the only two junior faculty in the department.

It may be different at other campuses but federal hiring laws dictate this policy across most universities and colleges.

Has anyone attempted to a) identify where in "federal law" this rule is mandated, or b) explain which category of universities and colleges are not subject to this alleged law, and why?
