Headline false. Majority of Americans still believe in God.
I “believe” in God. But I am not religious and I am unhappy about that fact. I *want* to be religious. I want to return to the faith of my ancestors, which sustained us through the depredations of colonialism. But I can’t get there from here. I don’t have faith. I have knowledge grounded in philosophy and philosophy destroys faith. I love teaching and all that but I don’t like the loss of something so important and life-sustaining as religious faith.
