I believe I'm the thirteenth generation of Lippincott to live in America. My ancestor Richard Lippincott came over in 1632.
My great-uncle died this week. He was in his mid-90s. He could remember meeting his grandfather in 1938. That man grew up in the same Ohio town as *his* grandfather, a man named Samuel Lippincott who also lived into his 90s.
Samuel fought in the Revolutionary War as a teenager and was held as a POW in New York City for seven months.
America IS my native land. Before there was an America, there were Lippincotts living on this soil. We built this country, helped to carve it out of the wilderness. It is an act of cultural genocide to insist that I am not a native of this country.
