So, the Elon search. Concluded? Cancelled? Ongoing?
Two things are blindingly obvious.
1) People are having some fun with people seeking information about this search by making things up. Gullible people appear to be believing it for some unfathomable reason, which is giving the trolls exactly the entertainment they seek.
2) The gullible troll-feeders lack both the insider knowledge and the BS detector to discern false information from accurate information, which makes "begging for information" an utterly useless strategy for them. Even if someone showed up and gave them a fully accurate detailed update on the state of the search, they wouldn't be able to tell it apart from the lying trolls.

It's a pattern here. Every year around this time there are desperate job-seekers eager to declare the TT job season "over" when it's only mostly over. I think some people have a psychological need for their lives and expectations to be divided into discrete and non-overlapping segments, which explains this odd behavior. I don't claim to understand it, myself.
