I'm sure there's someone I haven't heard of who's done even more, but really what hope is there for people if that's the standard?
I'm amazed at how far people can get in this profession and persist with the false belief that everything, always, necessarily boils down to a numbers game, despite the evidence to the contrary staring them in the face.
How about this for academics: Mind your own business, teach your classes, do your research, and avoid virtue-signaling on Twitter. Did most of us really get into this gig to engage in "slacktivism" on Twitter and try to change the world one tweet at a time?
And if you do have a (even in your mind, extremely legitimate) issue with a coworker, just go to the Dean and have a discussion about it...privately.

UBC is one of the best schools in Canada and arguably the most desirable location there and a much nicer place to live than much of the US.

Boise is not a bad place to live. Could actually be a lot worse. I'd take that job.
