   What is the ap salary at yonsei or korea vs nus or hku?

   Korea is surprisingly low given its high col. Around 45k-50k. HKU pays well around 100k.

   Singaporean universities offer a package at about the same as HKU (approx 100k USD). It's important to remember that this includes things like retirement contributions that you'll need to manage yourself (you can't be part of the pension system as a foreigner). COL is high, including expensive housing, schooling for kids, etc (if you're lucky, you get into NUS/NTU faculty housing, which is subsidized).

   Taiwan universities are slightly lower than Korea (approx 40k), but have a much lower COL.

   The white settler countries (US, Aust., UK, NZ, Canada) are dead for jobs. The hotspots are the Gulf states, Turkey, China, Korea, Thailand, Brunei, and a few other Asian countries. I don't think any universities in these countries would frown on an American Ph.D. in political science. Especially those who, as the previous poster discussed, are interested in climbing the rankings.

   Korea was a bigger job market 10 years ago. But unlike HK and SG, Koreans have no interest in integrating foreign faculty. They hire foreigners to rise in world rankings and otherwise fully exclude them. So basically no one talks to foreigners, not even students.
