I know Emily well. She has a decent mind. Her trouble is that she doesn't recognize when she's not the smartest in the room. The hubris is impressive but also debilitating. I'd rate her about just above average among polisci thinkers.
Let me guess. YOU were the smartest person in the room and she didn’t appropriately defer to you?

Bless your heart.

"Ever since E. Kim left the Department, their ship has been sinking."
She was the worst professor I ever had. No logic or direction in her syllabus. Constantly begging grad students for theory. Only critique of research was its release date. She's a one-trick pony with her little truck. -

Janessa, we have someone who has a pretty decent job, pays well. However, her scholarship is terrible. She can barely run a regression. Her JoP has HUGE errors in which the appendix flips the content of the article. Her most prominent research relies on an instrument of rain that supposedly prevents protest, but we have this thing called an umbrella revolution. She is almost always the most pompous in the room, caring about "theory" with the most dismissive tone. Her colleagues are sick of her. Why shouldn't we detract?
who the he11 are these Emily detractors and why aren’t they working on finding meaning in their lives?
