What's a 'good' publication record when finishing your PhD, in your opinion?

I will finish my PhD at a European university soon. I didn't publish during my Master's degree or in my early PhD time, but since the beginning of 2021, I published 3 articles and 2 book chapters, with one article forthcoming. To be a bit more detailed:

Article 1: Co-authored, good generalist journal
Article 2: Solo, good subfield journal
Article 3: Co-authored (1st author), top journal
Article 4 (forthcoming): Co-authored, good subfield journal
Book chapters: both in pretty meh books, to be honest

Obviously you don't know anything else about me. But just based on this record, if you wanted to hire a Postdoc - how would you judge this record?

I think you can get a decent job at an R1 university in the US with a high chance. It can be decent to mediocre.

People often overestimate the rankings of their journal publications. You say top journal so APSR or AJPS? If not, then not everyone will share your views. Good generalist journal? Lots of people won't consider QJPS BJPS PSRM or PRQ to be good generalist journals. I disagree, but many of those people populate search committees.

OP, you have given no real information aside from bean counting. There is no way to know how your work stacks up for R1 jobs. There are of course some schools at the lower end of the R1 ranking and R2s that mainly rely on bean counting.

You can count beans so you don't really need to ask psr how many beans you have.

Who tf would not consider BJPS a good generalist journal?

BJPS is the most prestigious journal in the discipline after the "big 3", and especally in Europe I'm not sure if a publication there would even count less than a JOP. Of course it's a very, very good generalist journal
