Hi! I would be happy about a bit of an additional income this summer and I was wondering which outlets pay authors for commentaries on political issues? I heard Foreign Affairs does, but the threshold is certainly high. How about Foreign Policy, The National Interest, The Diplomat, Monthly Review, and the like? Are there some other outlets that pay authors?
Thank you!
Which magazines/journals pay authors for their articles? (E.g. Foreign Affairs?)

FA used to pay more than it does now. I think it is currently $500 for an 8n magazine article and $250 for an online piece. Something like that.
The point: there are a LOT of easier ways to make money. I’ve published online and in print pieces for FA and even the easiest onl8ne piece, drawn from an academy cmarticle id already written, took 5+ hours of work. Writing, editing, submitting, editing, proofs, etc... usually it takes longer and the hit rate is less than 50 %.
So don’t do it for the cash. The cash is more like a bonus — go out with the spouse to celebrate, or go buy some shoes! — not a paycheck.
