Question for the whiners: Has anyone whined into an accomplishment yet? Like have you applied for a job and then showed up at the hiring meeting and whined about how women being employed is unfair until they gave you a job? Probably not. Is there a lesson there?
Why did Harvard hire MM?
-
Isn’t Harvard currently pursuing the recruitment of a senior scholar from UCB who studies Asian American politics? Isn’t this person being recruited under an identity politics initiative?
not from cal, but stanford
Initials? Its nice to see what credentials it takes to be lured away by Harvard (unless you are an ABD, to which it seems a single co-authored journal publication is sufficient).

AFAIK the offers haven't been made. It's for a cluster hire by the graduate school, where the various departments all have representation on the committee but there's no guarantee gov will get their pick.

Still waiting to hear about this. Please share your whine stories. I'll do a whine tasting.

^Whine tro11 keeps bumping the thread they apparently loathe so much. Who do you think whine tro11 is?
Vote YEA for underachieving VAP (or seventh year ABD) with one third-tier pub who needs to campaign against "whiners" to distract themselves from their utter mediocrity.
Vote NAY for underachieving deadwood associate who thinks campaigning against "whiners" is service to the discipline because writing and grading are just so exhausting compared to drinking cheap wine ("it makes me cultured!") and tro11ing
-
Plot twist: the whine-person is an MM hater who just wants to keep bumping the thread and make ridiculous defenses that makes MM look worse.
Another plot twist: The whiners have embarrassed themselves so badly that no hirees need defending anymore. It's now a thread where we can enjoy the whiners getting called out for whining and dodging evidence like flat-earthers.

Doesn't this complicate the narrative about Harvard's supposed biases a bit?
