its patronage only but only by Soros?
I kind of think they are a joke of a university due to its one ideological inclination, but the pay is good. I myself would not think highly of an applicant who previously worked there.
I think Soros is less unpopular in Israeli universities than in the rest of the country and the universities have some autonomy, so no.
Israel?
thanks Caileigh. I am the OP. I live in a country as such where Soros is not popular. Thus, I have to weigh what I will lose or gain by working at CEU.
I am the OP here. You academics are so detached from normal ppl. Open society is not popular in the USA too and for fair reasons
да конечно борис.
"normal ppl" don't know what the OSF is.
My dear, I did not want to say Soros because I did not want to portray a man as such (e-v-i-l). When anyone googles soros, they will find OSF. so what is the difference? Regular american people do not like the projects of Soros/OSF. You are so detached from the people whose tax pay your salary. I still think you cannot independently do social science at CEU, if you do not further their agenda. Would Eric Kauffman be able to work there as freely as he does in his uni in London? No
yeah great point a lot of normal people I know rank the NGO "Open Society" as one of the biggest threats in the world today
I just did not want to say Soros. If regular ppl google Sorors, the first think they will see will be open society. The regular people critical of soros do not agree with the politics he or OSF defend.
Maybe you all are not away but the tide is turning. No longer Eastern European countries' governments want to continue this global, US-under-toned democratization and anti-nationalism project. They are turning their face from the US ideologically, not economically yet. As an LGBT academic, I also think OSF projects are a joke and bound to face nationalist backlashes in other countries.
Even in its country of origin, Americans do not like this Soros guy. The tide is turning. And you all are so clueless not to spot the ideological bent the CEU has.
