It really is true. In grad school and my first job I was in depts with lots of women faculty and I thought this wasn't really a hiring focus anymore. And in the era of BLM I really really thought this wasn't it. But seeing what happens to grad students I know in the last few years, it is pretty clear that it still is a big plus on the job market. Not at every dept, but in the aggregate.
