He's got a very broad scope of evaluation and is articulate with it.
Most of his background I suspect was acquired on the job, in which he has about a dozen years invested. I was somewhat surprised by how shallow his academic background appeared to be (he has a 1-year graduate diploma from Otago in Asian Studies and maybe a year in a US graduate program, during or after which he did the smart thing and got himself hired by a risk analysis firm).
I don't buy everything he says or predicts, and get a little fed up with his attempts to ingratiate himself with a wider audience (politically speaking) - usually by being dismissive of certain politicians. But sure, he seems to be a bright guy.
